We, as faith leaders, theologians, spiritual practitioners, and human rights defenders across global traditions, stand in fierce interfaith solidarity against the UK Supreme Court’s ruling denying legal gender recognition to trans women.
This is not just a legal issue—it is a profound spiritual and moral crisis. The ruling aligns with a global wave of anti-rights and gender-essentialist ideologies. It violates sacred teachings, international law, and the inherent dignity of trans people.
We reject the colonial theology that confines gender to a binary. Across Indigenous, ancestral, and spiritual traditions, gender diversity has always been a sacred truth.
We affirm:
- Trans, intersex, and non-binary people are holy and fully human
- Faith must never be weaponised to justify exclusion
- Trans presence in spiritual life is not an exception—it is a revelation
We call upon faith communities, UN mechanisms, feminist movements, and all people of conscience:
